Unconventionally, the fortress is not outfitted as a palace, but rather as a giant stable, where in times of crisis, the tribes can keep safe the things that they most value – their horses. Trade descriptionThe great Tipu Khan insists that he be addressed at all times by his preferred full title; Tipu Khan, Lord of All Men, Master of All Women, King Above Kings, Supreme Overlord of All Illyria. He expects supplicants to lie prostrate before him when they beg an audience. And he expects to be given gold, in large quantities, frequently.<br><br>Wily traders will learn that as long as they use his full title, and lie flat upon the ground with utmost obsequiousness, they can generally avoid having to present the Khan with gold, beyond a normal tax payment. The Khan values gold, but it seems that he values flattery and submission even more highly. And in return for a suitable grovelling, the Khan is generally happy to allow traders to take over a small space of his great fortress, providing a secure base for local trade.<br><br>What one should never do, however - unless one wishes to lose one's tongue or head - is to suggest that the master of these horse tribes may not be, in fact, lord of all men, master of all women, king above kings, nor indeed supreme overlord of anything except for some rolling plains and wild horsemen. |
